Trainer group meeting held on Thursday 3 November 2005 at Embleton Hall, Longframlington.

1) General Discussion with Graham Rutt

Recruitment/interview procedure, VTR/PTMB approval of posts and current difficulties for registrars, GPR allocation, OOH, Funding for trainer groups.

Some money may still be available for groups. Need to submit proposals.

2) Reporting In

Issues raised were language/communication

On the whole most trainers were enjoying training at present

3) Emotional Intelligence Questionnaires

It is felt that they may be a useful tool to help in registrar development. Graham will look into purchase and funding so that all of the group could use them for their next registrar.

4) Trainer appraisal

Discussed issue of annual appraisal vs trainer development and trainer revalidation. Probable that as trainers our appraiser should be a trainer too to make it a valid appraisal for educational issues. McKinstry tool may help identify trainers needs. Will timetable for next meeting. Saul to find McKinstry tool and circulate to everyone prior to next meeting.

5) May event.

Date and subjects to be arranged. Email discussion needs to occur before next meeting to identify topics etc please.
