REPORTING IN
There was generally very positive feedback about our current registrars.
OOH
Gareth presented a letter from Mike Dodd and Julie Eccles who were involved in
appraising trainers. This letter outlined difficulties in currently arranging
suitable out of hours sessions for GPRs.
Dr Paul Creighton responded that the PCT has been challenged to provide suitable
sessions for GPR out of hours training and that the Northern Deanery are working
with the primary care trust and providers to try and develop a suitable system
in Alnwick and Berwick. The proposed mechanism for implementation of this was
discussed. A debate took place regarding the suitability of shifts at Alnwick
and Berwick for supervisory sessions. Discussion also took place as to the
mechanism of booking GPRs into training slots and the provision of protected
slots for trainers to supervise their own GPRs.
MAY EVENT
This is to take place at Embleton Hall on 12th and 13th May commencing at 2.00
p.m. The proposed topic is neurolinguistic programming. Caroline has now written
to the Care Trust and to the NVTS clarifying the availability of Section 63
funding to cover travel and hotel expenses. If there is a shortfall in funding
for the speaker Keith Pygall is to be approached to try and involve further drug
representatives. Please could all trainers wishing to attend the May Event
respond to this e-mail clarifying whether they wish to attend and indeed whether
they wish to stay the night. We then need to confirm with Trevor Thorne the
number of rooms available.
Curriculum Planning
Discussion regarding the different approaches to curriculum planning took place.
Experiences in documentation and implementation of the curriculum were
discussed.
