Matters arising

1)Introduction of new members

Graham Syres was accepted into the fold

2)Reporting In

Group members reported their current training experience. A supportive discussion took place

3)Video of teaching

Did not happen this time but will be revisited at future meetings

4)New Convenors

Following a tough struggle Billy and Karen managed to pip the other contenders at the post

5)Ongoing group meetings

It was agreed to have one every 2 months with afternoon meetings alternating with evening meetings
It was thought that it would be good if these meetings had a task and we agreed to use these meetings to work through the agenda identified at Embleton Hall in May

6)OOH

There was not time to fully explore this issue. However, we were able to look at the regulations from the JCGPCT and discuss the variety of ways that practices currently undertook OOH training

Charles was beginning to question the educational benefit of OOH experience from his practice due to the quietness of OOH and has arranged sessions at the co-ops at Alnwick and Ashington for his GPR
Gareth felt Amble OOH exposure had diminished following the set up of the co-op. About 3 red eye shifts were undertaken at Alnwick Co-op under direct supervision of one of the partners.
In Brads practice the GPRs did no oncall for the first 6/8 weeks, then did some with him and finally selected themselves how much oncall they would do at the end
Dave reported that there most recent GPR had had worries about going out at night on her own and that as a result of that the timing and frequency had been decreased and the support increased
In Billy’s practice GPRs did a bit less than principles and the support given depended on their experience
Gary reported that GPRs in the past have done a bit less than principles but that the last 2 GPRs have done less than this and that the practice has now decided that phase 1 GPRs will not do OOH on their own
In Karen’s practice she has clearly set out the amount of on call in the educational contract but noticed that her current GPR is not on target to meet this requirement

Future meetings

On the minutes page.
