- Short term terminal illness
- Patients with breast implants can be screened, but this must be performed at Newcastle General Hospital.
- Patients in wheelchairs can be screened at Newcastle General Hospital.
- Intertrigo may be aggravated by screening procedure.

Indications for early referral for screening mammography
- Personal history of breast cancer.
- personal previous biopsy showing atypical epithelial hyperplasia.
- First degree relative with breast cancer;
- Start early screening 10 years younger than when realtive was diagnosed.
- Refer to the Breast Screening Assessment Centre at Newcastle General Hospital.
