Minor symptoms may occur in the first few days after vaccination:
- Fever 5-7 days after injection
- Rash 7-10 days after injection
- Tenderness and redness around the injection site
- Swelling of neck glands with fever 2-3 weeks after injection
If your child becomes hot and irritable you are advised to remove clothing to vest and nappy, to sponge down with tepid water and encourage drinks of fluids. To prevent a high temperature; you may also give recommended dose of Paracetamol Paediatric Suspension in the following recommended dose:
- Babies aged 1-6 years 1-2 teaspoons (5-10 ml) (every 4-6 hours to a maximum of four doses per day).
The rash and gland swelling disappear by themselves in a few days without treatment and the child is not infectious.
