ome common preparations
Atorvastatin, Simvastatin, Pravastatin
Why are they used?
These medications lower cholesterol levels in the blood. High levels of cholesterol will narrow the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle (coronary arteries) and put you at risk of having a heart attack or developing worsening angina.
How do they work?
'Statins' inhibit the production of certain chemicals involved in the formation of cholesterol in the liver.
