Bezafibrate or Bezolip
Why are they used?
These medications lower the cholesterol (waxy substance) and triglyceride (fatty oil substance) levels in the blood. High levels of cholesterol and triglycerides will clog up the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle (coronary arteries).
How do they work?
Fibrates increase the production of a chemical in the body which breaks up cholesterol.
What to look out for
- The main problems with taking these medications is the possibility of feeling nauseated or having diarrhoea. If you do feel unwell taking these tablets, please contact your doctor.

Special instructions
All cholesterol lowering medications should be taken in conjunction with a low fat diet. Bezafibrate should be taken with or after food.
