Common preparations

Bezafibrate or Bezolip

Why are they used?

These medications lower the cholesterol (waxy substance) and triglyceride (fatty oil substance) levels in the blood. High levels of cholesterol and triglycerides will clog up the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle (coronary arteries).

How do they work?

Fibrates increase the production of a chemical in the body which breaks up cholesterol.
