An arbitration procedure is
available for those appraisees or appraisers who have an issue about the
process of the appraisal which they cannot address with their appraisal
partner to their mutual satisfaction. This process will address the process of
the appraisal or specific problems resulting from the appraisal, but cannot
address the outcome of the appraisal. The appeal body will normally consist of
the GP tutor and a TACT board member.
Each appraiser will undertake the appraisal programme outlined below with
a recommendation of no fewer than 3 and no more than 10 Northumberland GP
providers per annum, or retraining will occur.
Annual refresher training
Appraisal skills are benchmarked by
Observation (each appraiser will sit in on at least one appraisal of an
appraiser annually and give direct feedback to the appraiser)
Video of appraisals used for feedback and refresher training
Quality assurance visit at least once every 3 years by the Appraisal QA
team.
Results of the QA visit will be posted on this website after the visit.
Notes for appraisers
Appraisers should ensure that they keep complete confidentiality of the
appraisal process for each appraisee
Appraisers should not keep any records of the appraisal process for any
appraisee - the form 4 and PDP should be submitted each year to the appraiser
by the appraisee.
