Remit of the appraisal core group
Develop common appraisal procedures for health care professionals and allied workers throughout Northumberland.
Define the principles and implement quality assurance of the appraisal scheme.
Manage the output from appraisal at a locality and Care Trust level.
Develop ongoing networks, support and professional development for the people involved in appraisal.
Share change and development in the appraisal process.
Provide training and development for appraisers.
Smooth the path to revalidation for appraisees.
Advise the training and development groups of the key learning needs distilled from appraisal.
Support the development of the national GP appraisal toolkit.
Input into the Care Trust service development directorate.
Develop and support appraisal for non-principal performers, including OOH doctors.
To provide an
annual report
for the Care Trust.

Priorities
To develop this group as a multidisciplinary group to share ideas and systems.
To develop a system that can be used for all professions.
To develop a Northumberland-wide appraiser database.
To develop cross-discipline locality databases for appraisal outcomes that can be merged.
