Target population

Well Close Square patients with a diagnosis of ischaemic heart disease.

Method

look at all patients who fulfil the criteria of ischaemic heart disease

  1. Previous MI
  2. CABG/PCTA
  3. Angina
  4. Cardiac failure
  5. Atrial fibrillation

These records were examined and a current problem Ischaemic heart disease was added if appropriate. Computer search to find number who have had a cholesterol measurement. Cut off point aged 80 yrs.

Comment

The results of the 4S study together with the North Northumberland PCG and Northumberland healthy heart program suggests that this group should be below 5mmol/l.

    1. Number of patients in the target group with a recorded cholesterol level: from 62% to 80%
    2. Reduction of average cholesterol in this group from 5.95mmol/l to 5.1mmol/l.
