Manage clinical groups to look at prescribing and diabetes in a holistic and health improving manner, with the aim of working towards an improved clinical performance in line with clinical governance agenda. No target

Breast feeding

Work towards a breast feeding recording targets in 2003-4. No target

Prescribing targets

  1. Quinolones: No greater than 10 items per 1000 patients per year.
  2. 85% NSAIDs as a proportion of BNF chapter 10.1.1 (excluding aspirin 75mg).
  3. Bendrofluazide 2.5mg as a percent of all bendrofluazide prescribing - maintain existing target: 85% or greater.
  4. Generic prescribing 72% or more.
  5. 10 antimicrobials as a percent of all BNF 5.1
  6. Beta-receptor antagonists (atenolol, metoprolol, propranolol) as  a proportion of of items in BNF section 2.4: 80% or greater.
  7. Plus one of the following audit topics:
    1.  Practice prescribing guidelines available for locums.
    2. Practice has an up-to-date maintained CD register.
    3. Practice has an agreed formulary and evidence of regular meetings to discuss local implementation.
    4. Practice has undertaken an audit of repeat prescribing system.
    5. Practice has a written policy for informing patients about prescribing and repeat prescribing.
    6. practice has undertaken an audit of PPI prescribing in line with NICE guidance.
